Gillian MacCormack is a Board Director, CIDI 99.1 FM Community Radio advising on programming, communications’ and human resources issues. Ms MacCormack has forty years of experience in Journalism and Communications – first as a news editor, correspondent, host and producer of Public Affairs programming, Radio Canada International (RCI), and then as a Public Relations executive.
Her former Board of Directors’ memberships include a two-year term as Chair of the Montreal branch of the Canadian International Council, and year-long positions on the Advisory Board of the Council of Public Relations Executives, Conference Board of Canada, Ottawa, and on the Board of ArtsSutton,
Ms MacCormack’s Public Relations experience was developed in leadership roles focusing on strategic internal and external communications in Canada and internationally. Her consulting and corporate positions were with Foreign Affairs, Ottawa, key players in Canada’s aerospace industry and the McGill University Health Centre. Since retiring in 2011, Ms MacCormack has completed a Masters in Art History, a 16-month docent-training program at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and curatorial work on a collection of political cartoons from The Globe and Mail for the McCord Museum. In 2015, Ms MacCormack developed and led a tour to Ireland for a group of Montrealers entitled “Art Architecture and Gardens of Ireland.”
Ms MacCormack’s community volunteer work includes helping to operate the “Food-Fit Program” for local residents, Share the Warmth Community Centre, Pointe St. Charles, Montreal; the role of Communications’ Advisor for the Heritage Centre, the McGill University Health Centre; and the position of judge for two years in a row on a national panel established to judicate the Canada World Youth Awards of Excellence for Outstanding Achievement.
